Sounds good enough. My roommate have dell laptops and have been running strong, if you can get it for a good price, why not?

Because the customer support for anything that's not business related is complete ass if something goes wrong.

Received my 8800GT about a week and a half ago. It's freaking huge. It's longer than my motherboard is wide. I'm glad I'm not using any IDE devices, because it goes over the IDE connector on the motherboard.

Works well, though. So I'm happy.

It's not as though anyone else is known for good customer service these days.

I've heard the horror stories, but never experienced it first hand. My roommates brother has a large 17 inch laptop from dell, hell if I know the model number. Anyway, the hd died, he e-mailed dell and they sent him a new hd and a shipping label to send in the old one.

Maybe this was just a fluke, I don't know, but that's my only knowledge of dell tech support.

Finally ordered today, had to jump up to the 1490 WiFi card because they switched out the 1390 with the 1395 which isn't OS X compatible. 666.47 once all was said and done. Should ship next friday. Eee excite!

W00t! Laptop is here and it's pretty darn nice. I'll say this, it's damn solid. Case is all metal, hefty, strong hinges, seems like a sturdy machine.

It took a better part of the day, but I'm finally done. My laptop has been reformatted about half a dozen times today, but the end result is this:

Windows XP Professional x64 Corporate
iATKOSir2 OSx86 Leopard 10.5.2 GUID/EFI install w/ 9.2.0 Vanilla Kernel

The hardest part honestly? Making XP x64 work properly, and I still have yet to find a working driver for my 56k Modem (OH NOES!) but other then that it wasn't that hard to do, just required a little more patience then I sometimes have.

Now that all is said and done it's Dual Booting properly, all drivers and devices are working in both operating systems, and it plays CoD4 pretty well! I'm damn happy with this unit.

No Again. I doubt anyone but me is going to know this, but Proteus is the name of the future starship that comes to rescue the Robinson family in the 1998 film remake of Lost in Space. It's the ship with the alien spider things and the space monkey on it.

Actually, Balistic is correct. Proteus is a greek god of the sea. That's the origin of the name, and that's where the Lost in Space writers got it.

If you wanted to retain your cookie, you should have asked where you got it from, not where it comes from. Very Happy
