I don't know if anyone else has been interested in this before, but one of my favorite features of the Apple laptops is the gesture support in their trackpads, specifically 2 Finger Scroll.
Ginny just recently switched to a Vaio and asked if there was any way to get that feature on her computer because it was the only thing she really missed. I had looked a while back but never found anything. Well someone fixed it

This enables most Synaptics Touchpads to use 2 Finger Gesture Based Scrolling. It requires no configuration. Just run the app and it's enabled. I was impressed with how well it works and thought there might be a couple others here with laptops that would enjoy the added functionality. |

I had to google two finger scroll, with safe search on, to find out what this feature is. Does her Vaio not have the scroll feature on the side of the track pad? Maybe I still don't understand this feature, but I don't see what the point is if the laptop already has a scroll feature built in. I suppose one could argue that it is an inconvenience to have to use the slide track, but I've never noticed a track pad being so big that this would be an issue.
I do like the zoom-in/zoom-out touch capability of the MacBooks though. Bring that to Windows, if someone hasn't already, and I'll be happy. |

This sadly doesn't do the zoom function, however you can set it up for two or three finger gestures as well. My favorite macbook trackpad gesture aside from the scroll is twp finger tap right clicking, which this application also supports. |

In case anyone wasn't aware yet, Portal's been getting an onslaught of updates recently. The first introduced a new achievement with some highly involved puzzles which have largely been solved, and yesterday it got a new ending. Now I'll have to play it again...

If anyone is looking for a replacement or a new headset, I just picked up one of these at work. I switch off of a Logitech Extreme Gamer wrap around pair and the difference is night and day. Closed cans give way better sound, the mic is retractable and ducks into the can connectors. In line volume and mic mute, all felt covered cans and head rest. They sound fantastic. |

Be careful with those. My friend got that exact headset and they were incompatible with his sound card and the mic didn't work at all. (Don't ask me how, but it was the case)
His brother bought the next level up that had the USB dongle and if he plugged his headsets into that dongle everything worked fine. He ended up returning them and getting the next level higher with the USB dongle. |

I use the same headset and I love them.
I just recently found out that the mic is extendable.
But i have had people tell me I am too quiet so i had to adjust it a bit. |

You guys are making me miss my old headset... $20, but it was the best headset in the history of forever. Until they fell apart... |

I have an older generation of those, bought them about 4 years ago. They work great in games and are comfortable for hours. They have worked with my Audigy 2, onboard, and my X-fi. |

Ok this is cool. Popular Science and Google Books have scanned and made available the entire 137 year archive of the magazine online, for free.
