I had that headset, but I didn't like them because they were TOO good at isolating sound, and I felt like I was yelling all the time because I couldn't hear how loud I was talking.

Then I had these for a few months. The sound was great, they were a bit more open so I could hear myself better, but the mic quality sucked. I had to max out the boost on my end and people still told me I was too quiet. The first pair after a few months the mic stopped working, and the second pair seemed to create static at random times.

If only they could mix the sound of the Razer ones and the mic of that Plantronics one I'd be happy.

The dumbass I was training all week INSISTED that I get those over priced Razer ones because they were superior. I ignored him and am now glad I did.

I do agree though, they are very good at isolating noise, and it gets hard to hear if Ginny is calling me for something.

Got 3 pieces of mail today. The first one I opened informed me that I am in fact a reading teacher. The second one told me that I've been accepted into the field trial for a new hearing aid. The third one told me that because I have already invested so much time in my Navy career, I should not pass up the opportunity to join the Navy reserve.

I think my identity may have been stolen. If anybody knows an ex sailor with a hearing problem and a love of children's literature, let me know.

Ouch, that's never good. I'd get a credit report pronto.

https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp

Is a good one to use, you don't get your score but you don't have to sign up for anything and remember to cancel either. They'll also give you your score if you care for a small fee.

A) The identity theft part was a joke.

B) If somebody wants to steal my identity they can fucking have it, along with my 20k or so in college loan debt and rather average credit rating. And when AES calls to find out why I stopped paying on my loans I'll just be like "You got the wrong guy. I stopped being him a few months ago. Let me get you the number for the new guy." Very Happy

Even without checking the score, seeing that Cyanide had applied to be around children all day to make a living would have been a flag to me Very Happy

Ironically, most of IT also involves dealing with bratty people who can't read.

Very true, though I'm finding this is true for almost any professional-level position. Very few people even take the time to read the entire executive summary, let alone an entire explanation that may actually teach them something.

I suspect some might find this interesting. (And it's sort of related to people not being bothered to read)

Interesting read (yes, I did read the entire thing!). The statement that I think a lot of businesses could benefit from the most was:
Quote:
Watching non-programmers trying to run software companies is like watching someone who doesn't know how to surf trying to surf.

"It's ok! I have great advisors standing on the shore telling me what to do!" they say, and then fall off the board, again and again. The standard cry of the MBA who believes that management is a generic function. Is Ballmer going to be another John Sculley, who nearly drove Apple into extinction because the board of directors thought that selling Pepsi was good preparation for running a computer company? The cult of the MBA likes to believe that you can run organizations that do things that you don't understand.

I think a lot of big companies fall into this trap.

So the LCD Mounts I ordered weeks ago finally got sorted out and showed up today. Finished everything up. You can see the project step by step here:

That looks pretty sweet, I'll someday get around to getting new monitors and would consider mounting them like this, but in the mean-time I'll make do with my two 17" Smile

Picked up one of these at work today with some spare cash. Needed something with better airflow then the Soprano RS101 that I had my i7 machine in.

Rebuilt tonight and it's a very nice case. The side mounting SATA drives with rear cable feeding are very nice for cable management, the bottom mount PSU makes hiding cables much easier and gets my HD4890 off the floor of the case since I use the bottom PCI-E slot for my video so I can still use a PCI audio card.

If someone needs a decent mid tower I'd recommend it, the 2x230mm fans are silent and move tons of air. Moving my Q6700 back into the RS101 tomorrow.

I remember Mac posting about this earlier but couldn't find his original thread/comments on it. The Philly case about Macbooks being used to spy on students apparently just got a lot worse:

How could the school have thought this was a good idea at all? Blows my mind...
